Most of these notations come from the Notations 21 project. Can you tell what instruments are to be played? What notes are high or low? Loud or soft? Long or short? What is the character- angry, chaotic, peaceful, random?
Check this music out if you missed class or are new! This is our model for our Ligeti Compositions... Ligeti uses ONLY the notes A and D for this piece (and actually, most of it is A's... there's just one D at the very end!). This is a piece of Ligeti's "Lontano" as featured in the old school horror film "The Shining." If you think you may want to major in music in college, click HERE to check out a sweet $5000 scholarship that's available! See Ms. Weinert for more info and help on the application.
For the first day of music class this term, each class was challenged to improvise/compose on the spot as a group. Students were given prompts for each, but couldn't communicate or see each other while they played, forcing everyone to listen and work together as a group. Check them out!
Bonus Track: Period 2 was having such a good time that they made another one... A: Dancy/hype music. B: Sleepy, boring music. A: Dancy/hype music. End by "playing one key."
Here's some wise words from your peers to get you motivated and inspired for the last third of the school year! “MUSIC CLASS IS DIFFERENT THAN OTHER CLASSES BECAUSE WE, AS MUSICIANS, ARE REQUIRED TO... relax. express ourselves. have a good time. have an open mind. have freedom. listen and then play. be creative. learn to read music. learn more. find different answers. play and write exactly how we feel. make beats. be a part of our sound. play music play instruments. write music. be ourselves. show our feelings. record music. create our own music with inspiration." Big shout out to Dubspot for hosting us and teaching us how to be DJs! Check out our photos below, and stay tuned for more field trip opportunities. |
